2020 – The European Parliament post-Brexit

On 31 January, British MEPs packed their bags and left the European Parliament as the UK officially broke away from the European Union. 73 European Parliament seats thus became vacant, of which 27 were re-distributed among 14 Member States. This has direct implications on the balance of power in the institution and could ultimately impact European policymaking.
