Rory advises global companies with complex regulatory issues in Europe. After stints at a Japanese newspaper, the European Commission’s Department for External Relations, and a Brussels think-tank, he has been helping companies and governments with their EU engagement since 1998. For the last five years he has advised one of the world’s largest chip designers on IP, industrial policy and Digital Single Market issues.
He has particular experience in trade policy, having worked on some of the highest-profile disputes involving bananas from Latin America and antidumping investigations on footwear, wireless modems and solar panels from China. He also advised the Government of Singapore around the finalization of its Free Trade Agreement with the EU.
Before joining GPLUS, Rory spent four years at Edelman, a global public relations agency, in Brussels. He advised parties and handled media relations in sensitive international trade disputes on aerospace subsidies, shipbuilding and trademarks in the spirits industry.
He read Law and French Law at the London School of Economics and the Université de Strasbourg and spent a year studying political science at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris.
Rory speaks English, French and Spanish.
