Gaëlle has over 7 years’ experience working in diplomatic relations and international negotiations for the European Union. She is very knowledgeable about the workings of the EU institutions and has direct experience of their decision-making processes.
Prior to joining GPLUS, Gaëlle worked for the EU delegation to Egypt, where she focused on key files such as the EU’s assistance programme to the transition process, the relations with the League of Arab States and the coordination of EU Member States on justice and home affairs issues.
Prior to that, she worked in the team in charge of EU relations with the African Union and served as adviser to European Commission President Barroso’s personal representative for Africa. She took an active part in a number of diplomatic negotiations, spanning topics such as energy, trade, development, G8 external relations and peace & security.
Gaëlle also worked in the cabinet of former Belgian Commissioner Louis Michel and in a number of cabinets of Belgian federal ministers.
Gaëlle has an honours degree in political sciences and international relations from the University of Liège and a master degree in European affairs from the College of Europe in Bruges. She also spent one year at the University of Minnesota doing research and studying international relations.
A Belgian national, Gaëlle speaks French and English fluently, has a solid knowledge of German and a basic knowledge of Dutch.
